limited note encryption (personal notes)

Issue: I love capacities and in many ways and I want to use it as my go to place but in the current world I feel personal data security has never been under so much threat. therefore Im not comfortable using for personal journalling (which can be useful to give personal context to objects processed on any given date) I also do understand the rationale behind capacities design not to implement e2ee - this understanding has come from the wonderful level of transparency you provide I got thinking… why/what is this an issue for me?

• Personal notes: sometimes I wish to put down personal thoughts ideas etc but to keep them personal .. ie that no one other than me could ever read. It is difficult to be free and record notes if in the back of my mind someone could potentially see them. Encryption is really the only solution in a served environment.
• Also sometimes there are larger occasional texts that I would like to keep ‘locked away’ So my thinking is

• Could there be a special object type (or even just the daily note text content area) that could encrypt its contents accepting that it could not be analysed by capacities. Ie its content is always hidden but everything else remains as is for capacities generally

  • The title, date of creation/update, maybe a short searchable descriptor / tag etc still searchable as any other object
  • the object can be found and its created purpose understood via the descriptor but its contents remain hidden other than to the user (maybe using an unlock button) this occurred to me after thinking about the Bear2 app. A great little app that stores on iCloud. As UK users don’t have access to Apple ADP they have the Bear option to encrypt individual notes as needed .. these are unlocked as required at reading time (biometric) We accept that such note contents are <u>not</u> indexed I feel this would solve my hesitation … something like
  • Capture daily notes as normal linking out etc as needed. If I have particularly personal reflections or sensitive note that I am building I link out to a private object type, enter title, short description, tags and my notes. When done the note is locked=encrypted and unseeable by anyone other than me
  • Everything else remains as is
  • It is made clear that such encypted object type can only Ever be used for ‘flat’ information .. ie basic text and formatting etc
  • Ai does not ever have access to this content either (can’t)
