Let assistants and automations mark Daily Notes as reviewed via the API
Use case & value The “reviewed” flag makes the Daily Note an inbox you can actually empty. My assistant processes each Daily Note: it extracts tasks, logs progress and appends a clean summary. Once everything is processed, it should close the loop by marking the note as reviewed. Without that, I still have to go through every note by hand, even though the work is done.
Who else benefits
- Users of AI assistants via the official MCP server: the review becomes fully hands-off
- Users who process notes with scripts or automation tools (e.g. weekly reviews, journaling workflows)
- Power users who rely on “reviewed” as their inbox-zero signal and want it to match what their tools have actually processed
Current limitation The “reviewed” property cannot be set through the public API. More generally, Daily Notes and Meetings can only be appended to, not updated.
Proposed behavior
- Allow setting reviewed: true/false on Daily Notes via the existing update endpoint.
- Nice to have: allow updating other properties of Daily Notes and Meetings too, not only appending.
