Allow "Current Date" In Date Range

In date fields, for Start or End, it would be great to be able to add the floating "Current Date" for ongoing projects. This would be nice, as opposed to separate start/end fields, since it would always should whatever that object is in the calendar view! So, if I'm currently reading a book, watching a series, working on a project, etc, those actively working objects would always be there in my calendar as though the date range specified today as a start/end point.

Right now I sometimes just guess a range, but that has its obvious problems.

Let me know if there is already a different way I can do this. Thanks!

Date ranges use selected start and end dates; I don’t see a documented floating “Current Date” option. Should the range stay open-ended and extend through each new day, or should today replace one endpoint? Date ranges documentation

The "Current Date" option, or "Current" should stay open-ended and extend through each new day until the date is changed from "Current" to a hard coded date.
