Option to disable auto-focus jump to notes when annotating PDFs
When I select text in the PDF viewer to highlight it (or add a note to a highlight), the view automatically jumps to the notes panel / the note blocks of the PDF object. This interrupts my reading flow every time I annotate a passage.
Current behavior
- Highlights and notes correctly appear as note blocks in the PDF object's content – that part works great.
- However, annotating immediately shifts focus away from the PDF viewer, so I have to navigate back to my reading position after every single annotation.
- Hiding the notes panel helps somewhat, but the focus jump still breaks the reading experience.
Requested behavior
Please add a setting to disable this auto-focus behavior, e.g.:
- a toggle in the PDF viewer (e.g. "Stay in PDF when annotating"), or
- a general setting under Settings → e.g. "PDF annotations: keep focus in PDF viewer".
Highlights and notes would still be saved to the PDF object as usual – the only change is that the view stays in the PDF viewer.
Thanks for considering this!
