Query custom object by a collection of tags

I am trying to Query a custom object type by a collection of tags. I want to see All Artifacts (custom object type) by Subclass (a tag collection) however, it wont let me connect a collection of tags. I tried to just add all the tags but it wont let me add more than 9 and there are a lot of them.

I am having such a hard time with queries. It's not giving me the option to select any variable option such as "this object" sometimes it does others it doesn't. See my screen shots where the difference is I'm not even given the option to select a variable

For 'this object' you need to embed the query into a note so it can "see" that information. So if you open an artefact, then type @ artifact linked to this object, it should show.

Thanks for your reply, Beth. Maybe you cannot see from the screen shots, but they were the same environment - both set to embed but it takes you to query designer whether you do it from queries or from the object. Regardless, it's the variable options that were not appearing. Not what it was pulling it up that I was referring to. Yesterday the variable options were available on all my attempts again. The day before they weren't, the day before that they were. (that's the difference in my screen shots). It seems intermmitent to me. I ended up going through more than 30 objects creating individual queries for each and now it works again - so I didn't have to do all the work. Perhaps that is still a bug you can find?

Hi @Beth Erkel are you able to send me some full page screenshots to [email protected]? Happy to take a closer look. An example of where it should be available but isn't in full screen would be super helpful.

Hi @Beth Erkel we increased the number of tags that can be added to the query, I think that went out in the last update which should help in the short term. I will change this ticket to a feedback request to support collections as an option in the query.

Hi @Beth Erkel are you able to share a screenshot of an example artefact and the query set up? You can send to [email protected] for privacy if you'd prefer.

I can try to show you what I'm trying to do! And show you where I'm running into the issue. Yes

You can see in these screen shots that I would like to select a collection of tags - but that is not an option. You can then see that I can only select 10 tags in this case but my collection has more than 10 tags, way more

I think this is a limitation rather than a bug. Will ask and come back to you.

In the tags object type, I have a collection called "Subclass". In my Artifacts Object Type I have objects with many different tags that fall under the tag collection called "subclass". I wanted my query to show me all artifacts objects that include the tags in a certain collection of tags. I encountered the 9 tag limit on the query under "tags and backlinks". I was trying to just add all the tags from the collection... but there are too many.

Queries can filter by tags, while collections are manual groups of objects within one object type—not groups of tags. Are you trying to match artifacts with any tag in a selected set, and where do you encounter the 9-tag limit? Queries · Collections
