API: Updating Individual Content Blocks Through the ChatGPT–Capacities Integration
I am using Capacities through the Capacities integration available in ChatGPT. I can currently search and read objects, modify object properties such as tags, and append content to existing objects.
I am trying to develop a workflow in which I can review and improve specific blocks of content within existing Capacities objects.
What I would like to do is:
- Open an existing object through the ChatGPT–Capacities integration.
- Identify a specific content block and obtain its
Block ID. - Read and review that block.
- Replace or update only that particular block.
- Leave all other blocks, properties, relations, and tags completely unchanged.
At present, the integration allows me to modify object properties such as tags and to append new content, but I cannot find a method exposed through the integration that allows me to directly edit an existing individual content block.
Could you please clarify whether the Capacities API currently provides a recommended method for updating an individual block?
In particular, I would like to know whether there is an operation similar to:
updateBlock(blockId, content)
that would allow me to replace the content of a specific block while preserving its position and leaving the rest of the object unchanged.
My use case is to review definitions and other content blocks individually and make corrections or improvements without replacing the entire object or creating duplicate blocks.
If this functionality already exists in the Capacities API but is not currently exposed through the ChatGPT integration, could you let me know whether there is a specific API endpoint or method that could be made available through the integration?
If there is another recommended workflow for achieving this, I would also appreciate your guidance.
Thank you.
AsĂ queda claro que el problema que estás consultando es especĂficamente la capacidad de la integraciĂłn Capacities ↔ ChatGPT, no una limitaciĂłn que estĂ©s atribuyendo necesariamente a la API de Capacities.

sorry, i will rephrase that:
Enable individual block editing through the AI/MCP integration
I am using Capacities through the Capacities integration available in ChatGPT.
I can currently search and read objects, modify object properties such as tags, and append content to existing objects. However, I cannot edit or replace the content of an individual block within an existing object.
My desired workflow is:
- Retrieve an existing object.
- Identify a specific block and its
Block ID. - Read and review that block.
- Replace or update only that block.
- Leave all other blocks, properties, relations, tags, and the block's position unchanged.
I understand from the Capacities API documentation that block content can be read and written. Therefore, I would like to clarify how this functionality is intended to work through the AI Chat Connector / MCP integration.
Is there currently an API/MCP operation that allows an AI integration to update the content of an existing individual block by its Block ID?
If the underlying API supports this but the operation is not currently exposed through the AI/MCP integration, would it be possible to expose it?
This capability would be particularly useful for workflows where an AI reviews and improves individual definitions or other blocks within existing objects. The important requirement is to modify the selected block in place, rather than append a new block or replace the entire object.
If there is already a recommended method for achieving this, I would appreciate being pointed to the relevant documentation.
Thank you.

The Capacities API supports updating an individual block via PATCH /blocks/block; it replaces that block’s content while keeping its ID, position, and other blocks unchanged: https://developers.capacities.io/api/concepts/blocks#updating-a-single-block. The remaining question is whether this operation is exposed in the ChatGPT–Capacities integration—please confirm which integration action or tool is currently available for block editing.

Empirical test results
I have now tested this directly using the Capacities integration available in ChatGPT, without modifying any content.
I tested an existing object and confirmed the following:
Block IDs.readObjectBlocksoperation in its tool definition, but attempting to execute it returns the following error:MCP error -32602: Tool readObjectBlocks not foundBlock ID.Therefore, based on this direct test, the limitation appears to be in the ChatGPT–Capacities integration/MCP layer, rather than in the underlying Capacities API itself.
Action requested
Could you please check whether the current ChatGPT/MCP integration can be updated to expose the existing Capacities block-level operations, specifically:
Block IDs.Block ID, using the existingPATCH /blocks/blockAPI operation. If these operations are already intended to be available, please let me know which ChatGPT integration action/tool should be used, as
readObjectBlockscurrently returnsMCP error -32602: Tool readObjectBlocks not foundwhen called from ChatGPT.This would allow me to review and update individual definitions directly in Capacities without replacing or duplicating the rest of the object.
