I almost LOSING my notes
Hi Capacities team,
I’m genuinely disappointed today because I almost lost one of my notes.
This happened because of how Capacities handles the undo history. For some reason, I often find that undo does not work reliably, which makes me very hesitant to make changes to my notes because I’m afraid I won’t be able to restore the previous state if something goes wrong.
For example, today I copied a block and then deleted the original block because I intended to paste it somewhere else. However, I later realized that the block had apparently not been copied at all. I used Cmd+C on macOS, and unfortunately I’ve experienced this quite often in Capacities, where pressing Cmd+C seems to do nothing.
When I tried to paste the block in the new location, nothing appeared. I then went back to the original location and tried to undo the deletion, but undo did not restore the block either.
At that point, I was extremely worried that I had permanently lost my note.
I believe reliable undo history is especially important in a note-taking application, because users need to feel safe when editing, moving, or deleting their content. Right now, I don’t feel confident making certain changes in Capacities because I’m worried that a simple mistake—or even a copy operation that silently fails—could result in losing my notes with no reliable way to recover them.
I really hope the reliability of both copy operations and undo history can be investigated and improved, because losing notes, or even feeling that your notes could be lost this easily, is a serious issue for a tool that people rely on to store important information
