[UX] iOS: object type change is hard

It's currently a bit cumbersome to change the object type of a given object on iOS, e.g. when promoting a Task to Project or a Page to a more specific type like Person or Organization.

To do that, I currently open an object, locate the object type pill in the top left, and tap on the drop-down part of that pill.

The pill's drop-down part is tiny and easy to miss with a thumb which is about 3x as big as the whole pill.

Most of the type, I end up hitting the non-drop-down part of the pill, which opens the list of all objects of that type. When I try hard to avoid the latter, I often tap too far right, i.e. in the white space next to the pill, so that nothing happens.

I understand that both actions are valuable, changing the object type and jumping to all objects of that type. You already solved this distinction brilliantly for the multi-select options (tags, collections), with the checkbox vs outgoing arrow button.

Suggestion:

  • Use the same UX for the object type change.
  • Just use radio buttons instead of checkboxes to highlight that it is a single-choice selection
