Edit context of task with MCP

Hi Capacities team,

First of all, thank you for adding support for selecting “this object” as variable references for task context/backlink objects. I’m also really excited about the MCP and the updated API. Together, these make it possible to build much more powerful workflows on top of Capacities.

One limitation I’ve run into is that the Context field on Task objects appears in the UI, but does not seem to be writable via MCP or the API. For AI-assisted workflows, it would be extremely useful to let tools assign or update a task’s context directly.

My feature request would be:

Could you expose Task Context as a writable field through the API/MCP, or add a dedicated MCP tool for linking a task to the correct context object?

This would make it much easier to automate task creation while still preserving the same context/backlink structure that exists in the Capacities UI.

Thanks again for all the work you’re doing. The recent updates are genuinely opening up a lot of new possibilities.

Thanks for the detailed context and examples — this is very clear. Based on the current API and MCP docs, task context is not exposed as a writable field, so this is not supported right now: https://docs.capacities.io/developer/api. Your suggestion of making Context writable (or adding a dedicated MCP tool for it) would align well with the existing task workflows and AI connectors. We'll keep this in mind as we expand the API and MCP tools: https://feedback.capacities.io/board/expanded-api-endpoints
