Capacities as a second brain for AI Harness (Claude, Codex etc)
Obsidian/local MD folders have skyrocketed in popularity recently because of their support as a second brain and memory layer for Claude, Cursor, and other AI harnesses. The ability to work without an internet connection (searching and writing to the second brain in offline mode) is a huge reason Obsidian is so popular.
Capacities is a promising app, but be honest with yourself, the competition has already saturated the market.
Its biggest competitor, Notion, is still strong and has widespread marketing, though they have started losing ground to Obsidian because Notion did not make a major step in supporting AI as a second brain.
The use of popular AI harnesses as personal operating systems has shifted the balance, and suddenly the type of note-taking doesn’t matter, nor does it matter greatly that it has its internal AI chat.
This is an opportunity for Capacities to build its support for being a second brain for both humans and AI.
For the sake of Capacities future, I strongly advise making Capacities fully capable of being a second brain for AI harnesses with full local support for searching and writing required for local AI memory.
It doesn’t have to be rocket science, maybe some BM25-based search for offline access and full online capabilities when the app is connected.
Rather than focusing on creating yet another internal AI chat-like feature and yet another set of features that other note-taking apps already have (which probably few people would use), you can seize the opportunity to follow the rising trend and start marketing as an app which is Notion for Humans and AI in popular apps like OpenClaw, Hermes, Claude, Codex, etc.
