Meetings recurring, date time property recurring

I am using tasks right now for recurring custom event objects but my custom meeting/event object type doesnt make sense especially when looking at the calendar view. When it is treated as a task it gets lost in all the other tasks that can be done that day.

Can we make date time properties recurring outside of tasks?
