improve image embedding on MD import – provide default option for "embedded view" of images

When I import MD files along with embedded/linked images, the images are picked up in the object correctly. Which is great.

BUT – they are displayed as embedded object-link only, not as embedded view, i.e. the image itself is not visible. This also happens when object default display for linked content is "ebedded view". Plus: to my surprise there is no way to switch view mode for these embedded images…

To me images are central parts of notes, so this would be highly helpful & appreciated!
