Calculate/Display most recent two-way linked Object - or get date of most recent two-way object link

If I have an Account(s) object and an Activity(ies) object, and I want to look at my accounts table and have a column for recent activity or recent activity date, that would be solid.

Essentially, from the Accounts table for a specific Object, being able to see when the last time I created an associated activity was would be solid.

The Activity object would have a Label property for things like Lunch/Call/Coffee/Quote/etc. to define what the activity was.

Then I could sort my Accounts objects by the most recent activity to see which are falling through the cracks.

Maybe there's already a way to do this but I'm not sure how.

I found a slight work-around. It won't show the most recent, but I did figure out how to get the Date Updated property to change when a new activity is added.

Essentially, inside the Create New Template for my Account(s) object, I have an embedded query for activities associated with that account, so if I click into it I can see what happened--but this doesn't update the Date Updated property since it's not an actual property on the object.

That said, I created a separate Activities two-way linked property and then just hid it on the Account object. When a new activity is associated with that account, it registers a change to that object and subsequently updates the Last Updated property to the correct date/time.

So, at the bear minimum I can see the last time the account was touched in some way/shape/form, even if it was just by creating an associated Activity object for it.

Great idea – this is exactly the kind of thing two-way linked properties plus queries are moving toward, but there isn’t a built-in “most recent linked object/date” property yet. Right now, the closest workaround is to use a query on your Activity object type (filtered by Account and sorted by date) and embed or pin those views when reviewing accounts. I’ve added your use case to our notes around two-way linking and property calculations so we can explore a more direct “last activity” style property in the future. You can read more about object select properties and two-way linking here: https://docs.capacities.io/reference/object-properties.
