Android: App Icon Long-press Quick Actions
(If this should be merged with this thread, feel free; I’m hesitantly posting it separately because this is about Android .apk‑icon configuration specifically.)
I’d love to see Android app‑icon shortcuts for Capacities so that long‑pressing the app icon exposes the existing Quick Actions, for example:
- Create New Page
- Create New Task
- Create New Object
- Quick Note
- Take Photo
- Photos
- Select files
- Clipboard
- Audio Capture (if implemented eventually)
Use case is fast capture on mobile. I use the Daily Note as a main rapid‑logging inbox, and I’d like a flow that’s as close as possible to “one press → start typing → saved to today’s Daily Note,” without extra UI navigation or ensuring I previously left the app on the Calendar view. I’ve solved a similar problem on Windows with a PowerToys Run → PowerShell .bat setup; the comparable options on Android all add extra technical layers.
Many Android apps expose similar shortcuts via long‑press on the launcher icon (for example, notes apps offering “New note” or calendar apps offering “New event”). Having these shortcuts exposed directly from the Capacities app icon would remove most of the friction from daily capture on Android, without relying on external workarounds. Here is the most recent Android dev article on this topic.
Thanks for your consideration!
