Journal/Log Field Type

Hi Capacities Team,

I’d like to formally request a new field type that functions as a journal or log. The idea is to have a dedicated input area where each entry is automatically timestamped, creating a chronological log without altering previous entries.

Proposed Flow

The field is a text area or text block input.

Users can enter text, links, or other content into the block.

Each time new content is added, the system automatically inserts a small heading with the date and time of creation.

This would result in a clean logging tool where entries are preserved in sequence, with no need to manually update or edit prior additions.

Why This Is Useful

I often monitor projects using Capacities. Currently, I link multiple pages to a project object, even for small updates like:

"2026-02-04 08:10 AM – Team was reoriented on the case and everyone agreed."

Creating a new page or atomic note for every single line of update quickly becomes excessive and clutters the project space.

While I could write updates line by line in an existing text block, it’s burdensome to manually add the date and time before each entry. Having a field that automatically inserts timestamps would streamline this process and make logging effortless.

Who Benefits

Project managers who need to track progress with quick, timestamped notes.

Developers who like to monitor changes and record single-sentence updates while maintaining proper logs.

This feature would reduce friction, prevent clutter, and make Capacities more powerful for lightweight project monitoring and journaling.
