Task Management UI

Task management is a great addition to Capacities, would just like to see a better way to interact with tasks while I am in notes. The side panel on the right side where the outline, Objects and Stats live could be a perfect place for tasks. Under a toggle similar to the stats and Objects, you could have a tasks drop down showing linked tasks in one tab where all tasks with this note as context can live, a tab where all open tasks that has today's date can live and finally a tab that has all open tasks. Attached is the location where I think the tasks could live, and how the current tab switching looks in the notes that could maybe be similar in the new sidebar area.

Some functionality could be:

  • A plus icon next to tasks that are in the open or today tab so that the current note can be linked to it with one click.
  • Display the status tag next to the title of the task.
  • Tasks in the linked tab can have an unlink button similar to the current unlink button with the Calendar Integration

Yes! Content and associated tasks, side by side, would be my primary use case for the side panel.

Capacities is all about linking related things, in particular tasks and their context. The current UI undermines that concept a bit, forcing me to switch between content and the associated tasks (exclusive tabs).

Imagine the synergies we could get from tasks next to their context! Examples:

  1. When I navigate to a paragraph which contains tasks, these tasks could be highlighted in the side panel.
  2. Selecting such a task in the side panel could scroll the main panel to the paragraph containing that task and highlight the inline task reference in the main panel.
  3. The tasks side panel could group the tasks by the document's header-based hierarchy, just like in Craft.
