Option to hide tasks from object content

First, thank you for the new task management feature – it's an amazing addition!

When we add a task and link it to an object (page or project), the task automatically appears in the object's content.

This makes sense in some cases, but it can quickly clutter the content, especially since there's already a dedicated Tasks tab that shows all related tasks.

It would be very helpful to have an option to control this behavior, for example:

  • A global setting: show linked tasks only in the Tasks tab, not in the content
  • Or a per-object or per-task setting to choose whether the task appears in the content or only in the Tasks tab

Thanks for considering this improvement!

This would fix the current inconsistency of Task linking vs all the other linking. When I link a Person to a Project, be it via a typed property or an inline link, this doesn't automatically add a new line to the Project content, with a Person block - and vice versa. And it shouldn't. That's what the separate Backlinks section is for. When we want references in sync, we use bidirectional properties. But with Tasks, we get some weird middle-thing between bidirectional references and Backlinks.

I also find this unintuitive. When I started using Tasks and saw some Tasks blocks in my Project / Person / Event / ... objects, I started removing those Task blocks as I thought "I don't need to see the Tasks in two places - I have a dedicated Tasks tab for that". In particular, when I linked a Task to a Project and then added some cover to the same Project, the Tasks ended up at some random places between snippets of text ... You can imagine the frustration when I noticed that removing the inline / content Task blocks also unlinked them from my Projects / Person / ... objects ...

Now, imagine, a year from now, when I will have dozens of tasks associated with particular people over time, most or all of them completed - I would certainly not want to see those long lists of completed tasks whenever I open a Person object. In the Tasks tab, I can filter those out. But in the object body (content blocks)?!

It should be possible to hide the tasks from the content via an option. Technically, couldn't you simply not display the tasks in the frontend when the ne Option "Hide Tasks from content" ist activated? I find the workaround with an additional block very impractical.

It isn't possible to remove the task from the content entirely because of how the task context works.

A workaround would be to create another blocks property called 'Tasks'. Tasks will be appended to that second blocks property and you can toggle that task section closed.

I have been making greater use of the tasks module, and find it odd that there is a tasks tab but you also have to see it in the content. +1 to have it hidden from the content or an option to toggle. There certainly are use cases where having tasks in the body of the content - such as meeting minutes etc - might work well.
