Ability to manually revise completion date on tasks
Thank you for the new Task Management system! I am enjoying getting to know it and figuring out how to use it in my personal workflows. It would be highly useful if completion dates on tasks could be manually revised in cases where the user did not mark the task complete on the day it was completed. While the ideal me would perform a task review at the end of each day and complete all tasks accomplished over the day, real me frequently doesn't get to this due to late meetings or simply working late. I love that completed tasks can be viewed as a log of completed work; being able to manually revise the task completion date would allow me to accurately reflect what work was done on which day. Thank you!

Agreed, this is highly useful for when you have a "end of day" session in the evening, maybe just after midnight. You check off all the things you've done in the day that just finished, but they get registered as done in the new day. This is especially problematic for habit tracking, as then your habit (e.g. "flossing") is marked for the new day, which means you won't get a reminder.
I believe Lunatask, a European to do app (very good app, by the way) for recurrring tasks asks you if you want to mark the "previous" or the "current" occurrence, which solves this problem.
Agree! I just marked some tasks as completed today but they had been completed a few weeks ago, but just hadn't marked them as completed at the time, as I was in a rush (going on a tramp [NZ English for 'multi-day hike'])
In full support of this.
I completely agree, I also face this issue. Sometimes I need to mark it as completed the next day, and the task ends up as completed not on the day I actually completed it, but when I marked it.

+1 to this. Adding a slightly different failure mode to the mix compared to the original post: for me what brought this up was a couple physical tasks away from the computer.
Yesterday I completed two furniture assembly tasks on the day they were scheduled, saw them on my daily note as I was running out the door for an appointment, and thought "Awesome, I did it! I'll check those off when I get back". Then of course got sidetracked and didn't return to it until this morning. They now log as completed today rather than yesterday, which quietly distorts the picture during weekly review — the daily note is a beautiful log of what happened when, but only if the log is accurate.
As a workaround, I am manually noting completions in the daily-note body — but this breaks the elegance of tasks-as-first-class-objects that's otherwise so nice about this system. Would love to see the "completed on" date exposed as an editable property on the task.
