Recurring tasks got added to Capacities with Release 64! 🥳 You can read about it here: https://capacities.io/whats-new/release-64.

Not sure how previous notes are being handled: is a new task created each time with empty history or is the same task being resurfaced on a regular basis? I've seen it handled both ways, but the reason I mention this is I like to keep a record/previous notes on some of these recurring tasks, for example for a bill payment, I like to put the date that it was paid and the amount so it's easy to double check at a glance. If it a new task is being created, it would be really wonderful if there was automatically connected to the previous tasks so I can still see them together.

I also would probably cancel or drastically change my task manager if I could have recurring tasks in Capacities!

I use Ticktick as my Task and Project manager, and I would cancel it if CAPACITIES had a RECURRING TASK function and reminders at various times (e.g., 30 minutes before, 1 hour before, 1 day before, etc.). The function to postpone a reminder to 30 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours, or tomorrow is also very useful. I would also love it if CAPACITIES had a real calendar, similar to Google Calendar. Then I would cancel all my subscriptions and centralize everything in CAPACITIES.

I was thinking that this could replace SkedPal, but it seems, we are at the beginning of task planning here. 😅

Bonus points if recurring can apply to other object types, not just tasks. I have a "Weekly Reflections" object and template that I would like to automatically generate and attach to every Friday -- seeing it there is an important visual reminder for me to actually do it.

Let's combine development support for both

"Recurring Tasks" and "Task Reminders."

Reminders for Tasks

Should be able to use the '@' sign to set a reminder back to that object.

Assign or Add a name/ email address:

While Capacities is not focused on Corporate, multi-user environments, the ability to "assign" or "add" a name/email address (TASK-GUEST) to Tasks would be helpful in situations when a Task requires input or involvement of an additional person, aka "TASK-GUEST" regardless if they are a Capacities user. Adding the name and Email address and sending an email to notify the "Task-Guest."

Once these task-related features move into active development and release, Capacities will finally have a complete, powerful Task managment system.

Hello Capacities Team,

Recurring Task is a must-have for serious Task management.

If Capacities currently includes Task Status

You can assign statuses to begin your task management workflow. The default statuses are

Not started

Next Up

In progress

Done

Capacities include Task Priority

There are four priority levels:

No Priority (default)

Low (!)

Medium (!!)

High (!!!)

These two features (Task Status+Task Priority) are two-thirds of the way to serious (professional) task management. I question the utilization of resources to release a "Kanban" feature before Recurring Tasks. This looks like a case of "look over here, we are going to distract you with this shiny 'object' aka Kanban cards feature. See what I did there? I hope this does not come across as 'mean-spirited.' I have voted for six features I would consider 'nice to have'. However, "Recurring Tasks" is on my short list of must-haves.

Without recurring Tasks, Capacities Task management is incomplete.

Once Recurring Tasks are added, Capacities can boast a truly complete Task Management system.

Please reconsider Recurring Tasks.

Thank you,

Thanks for your votes and comments!

We agree that this would be a great enhancement to Capacities Task Management, but it is a huge project. Therefore we are prioritizing other projects at the moment, which you can read about here: https://capacities.io/roadmap/whats-next.

Nevertheless, we have it planned and it will become part of Capacities. We’ll send updates via this ticket and future What’s Next articles.

Yes!! I think this is what's missing to make it my one task manager. I'd rather just pay for this than pay for this AND a task management tool, if possible.

This is not everything my other task manager gives me - but it would really help to give Capacities' tasks a serious thought (I have tried it but without recurring tasks I cannot work with it).

This feature would allow me to move all task functionality to Capacities

Yes, I agree, this is the only feature missing from Capacities.

We really need this!

I also think that's the only thing missing to truly retire another task manager.

This is the only feature missing from Capacities at this point that would allow me to completely leave my other notes/task management systems. The new Task Management system is a huge improvement, but being able to set up routine tasks that always pop up on certain days or time periods would be immensely helpful.
