Better UI/UX design

I've been digging into Capacities for the past few days and I've found that the design is not that good. There seems to be many basic things just not done right, I've come to too many points of frustration.

It is not about a few UI improvements here and there that could be user-suggested on a site like this. It is about the whole underlaying usability design.

Some areas:

  • the whole table management area (the buttons for filtering, sorting, adding properties)
  • the whole table filtering workflow
  • the sorting menu
  • no manual sorting of objects in a dashboard and views
  • queries management
  • no organisation of objects in the Objects list (beside reordering)
  • some text editing workfloww. Sometimes there can even be an unintentional data loss (https://capacities.io/feedback/p/deleting-the-parent-of-indented-blocks-is-impossible)
  • the whole action panel
  • many things here and there that are indicators that the app was not that well designed and it all feels under-tested

It would be too much to describe and suggest improvements for all the things, it would actually mean redesigns of whole parts of the app.

I was on a hunt for a Notion alternative, I've tried many other PKMs. I really like the main idea of Capacities, plus it has transclusion and Latex in table properties which Anytype lacks; and an inline audio player. But more I use it, more frustrated I am. I am going back to Notion for now but will keep an eye on your development.
