Local save location and offline *only* mode

The recent updates to provide offline mode are great, but still sync data with Capacities servers. This limits the cases in which Capacities can be used -- for those wanting to maintain clearer governance over their data, and for those who may want to use Capacities in a work environment that does not allow syncing with non-certified cloud environments.

Being able to (1) define where Capacities saves it data and (2) turn off syncing with Capacities servers would enable users to chose if their data is synced with the cloud at all, and what cloud server they trust (or are required to trust, in work environments) with that data if they chose to sync.

I continue to use Obsidian in the work environment because of this.

I'm a big fan of your tool. However, for use in a scientific context, which seems to be one of your target groups, it would be really important to have the option to selectively store data only locally. Nevertheless, thank you very much for the great work.

same here, no control about where my data is stored combined with no encryption limits usefulness as I might need to switch to Obsidian which is approved at work

I still have to keep a large number of files & photos on obsidian due to this single problem.

I wonder if they'll ever add this feature though.

This is my number one wanted feature and it bogles me that something advertised as offline first doesn't have a true offline only mode.

I think its fine to ping the server to see if I am a paid subscriber, and only give this to paid users. But same as op I love capacities and need to use it at work but wont while it synchs to Capacities servers.

Came on here looking for this as well! Being able to own and manage our data is going to be critical

This is the only reason why I'm still using Obsidian...

I stumbled on this in their docs:

"Can I completely disable syncing to servers?

No this is not possible and not planned."

I have a very critical use case that requires this feature. I'm thinking about going back to Obsidian since it's not possible and they have no future plans to do anything about it.
