Dynamic Relation Properties Across Object Types
The current relation property system could be much more streamlined and flexible. When creating single or multiple select fields for object properties, linking is restricted to a specific object type. It would be much more useful if these select fields functioned like queries, allowing linking to objects across the entire workspace regardless of type (optionally filtered), with linked objects automatically grouped by type.
The proposed workflow:
- Create one or more "Relation" properties on an object
- Link each relation property to multiple objects across different object types
- Optionally configure unique filters/queries for each relation property
- The app automatically groups the linked objects by type
Features and benefits:
• Streamlines configuration of new object type settings
• Enables creating reusable properties that can link to any relevant object
• Allows free-form object linking without rigid type boundaries
• Provides an elegant implementation for two-way (bi-directional) relational properties without matching properties on each side
• Allows filtering/querying linked objects by configuring unique filters per relation property
• Ability to create multiple distinct relation properties on one object, each with its own filter
Possible Use Cases:
• Building lightweight project management by linking tasks to team members, clients, tools, etc.
• Creating a knowledge base by linking notes/docs to related entities like people, projects, events, etc.
• Implementing a research repository by linking research papers to related authors, institutions, datasets, etc.

This would be a great improvement! Before coming to Capacities I was using Logseq which has this facility.
It is very convenient for being able to have typed or semantic links between objects on a many-to-many basis. This is useful, for example, when tracking where concepts are discussed, by who, etc. A single concept could be discussed in various media (each a different object), so being able to automatically update these links across object types would be a major convenience.
