Export/backup with full import compatibility
I usually run this test with note taking applications to see how well they have implemented the import and export functionalities.
The test is to choose a format and export a page with a relatively complex layout and nested and rich blocks. Then import the same file again into the tool and compare this new generated page with the original.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a single format that can pass this test. Not even the backups are any better.
This means we have loss of data when we export pages. Data like indentations, styles and page layout and more.
I have found PDF exports are the most true to the original page however there is no way to import that back in or use it in any other platform or edit it to make it compatible with other tools so we can ignore that.
I am aware that formats like Markdown is limited and it would probably required modification to be able to represent all features of the application but point is not to strictly use any common format. To pass this test we just need a file format in plain text which is human readable and comprehensive for all the features of the application so it could be used to restore back the data into the app (a true backup format that can be viewed and edited by human)
I am loving what I see in Capacities however until this functions are completely sorted we can't truly say that users are the owner of data if they can only retrieve partial data.

This functionality, providing full feature support for import or restore, would be really great to have for several reasons.
* As stated in the request, a true backup format would enable restore without data loss, including formatting and metadata
* This could enable external versioning and tracking of notes history using a git repository or other versioning system in conjunction with scheduled exports
* Full import support would enable another avenue of customization, such as reusable plain text templates that could also be easily shared
* This functionality would be another nice differentiator against tools like Notion that have the same issue (i.e., the round-trip process of export -> import loses data)
Thanks for consistently considering user feedback, ideas, and requests for inclusion in your development roadmap! =]
