Page Version History

It would be great if I could roll back a note by 15mins-1h whilst i'm working on it in case I delete something I wanted to keep.

Version History was added to Capacities with the last release! 🎉 You can read about it here: https://capacities.io/whats-new/release-70

Please add this feature

Sometimes basic editing shortcuts don't work in capacities, and users would try manually clicking buttons for copy, duplicate, remove, etc. When some blocks are removed in this way, there's no way to undo (as shortcut doesn't work) and revert the removal. Data will be gone. Trash only has objects, not blocks. I believe there are some easier way to prevent this, but ultimately page version history will be also helpful.

+1 this is something I currently use in OneNote and has come in useful.

+1. I actively use Capacities daily and I've been in a situation where I felt the lack of this feature quite a few times

I agree. The longer I use Capacities, the clearer it becomes just how essential a version history is. I’ve experienced some data loss - sometimes explainable, sometimes inexplicable to me. This creates uncertainty, because I rely on my notes.

I’m also forced to work in the web version because of the Linux bug that’s been going on for some time now. Not even the backup feature can help me in that situation.

There are a few features, like this one, that will determine in a few months whether I can continue using Capacities or not.

Please add this!! Version history along with footnotes and mind mapping are the main features missing from Obsidian that would make this my new favorite app.

I did not catch or realize that this is not a thing, and have now been using this long enough that my free trial has ended. I did not catch that this wasn't a thing during my free trial, and now I'm really questioning whether or not this was the right move for me.

So far, the lack of version history and the lack of end-to-end encryption are significant features that, together, are beginning to tip the scale in the direction of maybe this wasn't the best idea of switching to this product.

I do agree this is an important point. I have also had data loss because of a lack of version history! !

this would be essential IMHO. I'm trying to work around this via regular export and git commits, which is not really a great replacement

Agreed. Deleting an block accidentally and not being able to undo, or go to a recent history is really unfortunate.

please please allow Pages (and other objects) to have a version history. I've lost so much content.

I’m running into occasional data loss and page version history would be a lifesaver.

Sometimes, after a quick copy/paste into a note, switching to another Capacities tab, then returning to the original tab, content disappears. I haven’t found a reliable way to reproduce it, but it has happened multiple times.

If I had page version history (with the ability to view changes and restore a prior version), I could have recovered the document in seconds. Instead, I’ve spent hours recreating lost work.

Automated backups don’t fully address this for me because:

I often work from the web app on a non-primary computer.

Backups either aren’t available in the web version or aren’t happening quickly enough to prevent loss.

Version history / rollback feels essential, and it’s important enough that I may need to switch tools (even though I’d prefer not to) if it isn’t on the roadmap soon.

I deleted entire page by accident(preview from another page was limited) - now no way to get back. Can't believe there's no recent history.
