Include text inside PDFs and images in search
Would be wonderful if we could search through the content of pdf files.

l’m coming from Bear and generally really like Capacities, but the fact that text-based PDFs aren't included in the global search is shocking. I’ll keep using both apps side by side for a bit longer, but since this feature request is almost four years old, I’ll probably end up sticking with Bear.
Today, we launched Image analysis in early access for all Capacities Believers wich includes OCR for full-text search and as context in the AI chat.
More to come!
OCR would be ideal, but even just being able to search PDFs with text would be a massive upgrade.
100% agree - it's critical to be able to search in any content placed in the tool, and I'm stunned that this request is 3+ years old.
I had high hopes for using Capacities, but sadly I must uninstall. (sigh)
I'm the author of, so far, 18 novels so far and am evaluating Capacities to organize my entire business operation, including the ability to have AI search every book for a particular scene or character interaction. So having this ability would be critical for me.

With Image analysis and PDF analysis now out, images and PDFs that are analyzed are now fully searchable through full-text search and semantic search. Text on images or handwritten notes is also detected using OCR.
In addition:
As of now (early September 2026), PDF analysis is only available for Believers for now (early-access phase), but will be made available for Pro users as well very soon.
