Whiteboard performance issue

Hi,

Thanks again for bringing that awaited feature, I love it.

But as much as I love the app, I will always be here to report issues that I might come accross.

---

I see it's already in the roadmap as Performance : Faster everyday flows across spaces, large notes, search, sync, and media.

But I create this bug nontheless for Whiteboard specifically. I created a whiteboard to organize my thoughts on .Net as some training ground for the feature. After 7 notes linked, the performance were to the ground, I could not move notes around nor navigate the app.

I don't know what to ask for specifically, but I would need the app to be reactive up to at least a dozen notes, maybe up to a hundred so that we can create mindmaps for our content while learning or being at the early stage of some creative process.

Workaround :

  • Manually assign each note, one by one, to Small card instead of the default embedded view of the notes. Multi-assignment would be great.

Context :

Thanks in advance ! If you need logs or anything, I'll be up to provide them !

Hi @Mathis Gauthey is it all small card embeds or anything else? I've got a whiteboard with much more than this and the performance is good so I'm wondering if it's a specific type of element slowing it down. If you're able to share a screenshot to [email protected] that would be great! But no worries if not. Luca worked on some performance improvements anyway and they will go out with the next update, so it should improve there.

Hi,
With embed view, the performance is too bad to use with 7 notes. But each of these 7 notes has embedded notes, so if all he notes' content is loaded despite not actively seeing it, it might be that.

I tested and used Small card view is much better performance wise. But all the notes I link are using Embeded view by default and we can't bulk change them yet.

I have sent you recordings at the mail you provided, using this issue's link and post title in the mail. Hope it finds you well.

I'm seeing the same as Mathis. My objects have multiple queries and as everything defaults to 'embed' as the view on the whiteboard I have to race to change it to small card view otherwise everything slows to a crawl. (Chrome/Windows 11)

Thanks for reporting this. Could you add your operating system, Capacities version (or browser), and a screen recording showing the slowdown to this ticket? Also, does switching the notes to Small card consistently improve performance?
