Markdown export doesn't keep spacing (tabs)

I come from an outliner note taking app (logseq), so I am used to writing like this:

Some idea More information on this idea Some more content Explanation of more content

In this example I used spaces because I can't press tab in this feedback form, but on the capacities app (and any other note taking app) I press the tab key on the keyboard.

The problem: when exporting to markdown, the spacing is lost completely. This would be the result using the previous example:

Some idea More information on this idea Some more content Explanation of more content

This is specially problematic for me since I used Capacities to study for an algorithms course (so imagine my notes about the algorithms, having if/for/while statements, which need the spacing to know when the if/for/while block ends, because I didn't use any symbol or word to delimit the start and end of each if/for/while block, just the spacing through tabs). And I didn't use the Capacities' code block type because my professor uses a lot of math symbols in the algorithms so its better to type those outside code blocks.

Hi @alariaso I believe this is expected behaviour if there is no toggle/bullet point on the line first.

We have an outliner mode in the settings which turns the toggle into something that looks like a bullet point but is toggle-able.

If you use that and export, it should work in the way you're looking for. For notes you've already made, you can select blocks in a note and add the toggle formatting from the editing toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

Thank you Beth for the reply, but shouldn't the export look (or aim to look) the same as what I see on the capacities app?

The example again since it looks different here than what it looked in the form:

What I type:
Some idea
<tab>More information on this idea
<tab>Some more content
<tab><tab>Explanation of more content

The resulting markdown:
Some idea
More information on this idea
Some more content
Explanation of more content

One more thing I forgot to mention: if I use bullet points, the export is as expected

Edit: replaced spaces (and then also tabs) with "<tab>" so it shows correctly
