Basic Object Types in Spaces

I have a question about Basic Object Types when creating a new Space.

When I click ā€œCreate a New Spaceā€, I see three options:

  • Start with basic setup
  • Start with a blank space
  • Restart onboarding

I tested all three options and got different Basic Object Types each time.

I already had an older Space (Space 1), which has:

  • Daily Notes
  • Image
  • Page
  • Tag
  • Weblink

I don’t remember which option I used when I created this Space, but I haven’t removed or changed any of these Basic Object Types.

Then I created three new Spaces:

  • Start with basic setup → only Query
  • Restart onboarding → Daily Notes, Page, Tag, Query
  • Blank space → no Basic Object Types at all

So I’m a little confused. If these are the three ways to create a Space, how can I create a new Space with the same Basic Object Types as my original Space (Daily Notes, Image, Page, Tag, Weblink)?

Is there a way to add these Basic Object Types to an existing Space after it has been created?

I’m using Capacities 1.7.12. Thanks!

Hi, all basic object types are available out of the box. You can click 'New' in the top left to add an object of that type, we just don't show the full list in the object type sidebar unless one is created. The basic setup should have included other object types, like person, project, meeting etc. Can you confirm if that was the case?

You can add basic object types after creating a space: hover over Object types in the left sidebar, click +, and select the types you need. Pages and Tags can be added this way; images and weblinks become objects when you add that content. See Basic object types.
