"New" button is missing inside Queries

The new UI broke my workflows, because it does not let me add a new item inside a query view. I have setup queries for tasks tagged for different projects and had used them for managing what I need to do for them. Creating a new task in the query view automatically tagged it with the right tag for that project. After the UI change, I do not see a way to add a task inside the query view.
