Images are missing in my notes
After using Capacities for almost two years some of my images in older notes and also recent notes are missing! I don't have access to the original files of my older notes. What is the solution for this issue?

Hi, I have the same issue today - I have only used Capacities for about a month and I have purchased one year Pro license. I uploaded several images and they have been fine but today when I open Capacties they are gone.
Hello. I am having this issue as well. I'm on an Android device (which I suspect may be the issue). All of the files I uploaded are visible on my android device in the Capacities app, but when I go to the desktop version, some show, and a lot show as broken links as the other person described. All files are from my camera roll so they are not self hosted.
This is partly why I've never used Capacities for work. Not only does this issue happen for me when I upload with my Samsung phone or iPad, but even the images uploaded using my desktop (which I can see) can't be seen when shared.
So then I spend a long time, making sure images have a share links. I've also tried inserting the link itself onto the page.
When I try to share knowledge, no one can see my images. So I've never recommended this tool. I've briefly thought about an image server, but it shouldn't be like that after I think 1.5 years. The tool I was using previously not once had that issue.
Please fix this. I highly doubt the users who raised this are the only ones affected.

Please could you let us know your answers to the following:
- How did you upload these files?
- When did you upload them?
- Do you remember what you were doing before they disappeared?
- Did you have any notes in the files or tags on the files?
- Are they in the trash?
Thanks for your help!
Thanks for looking into this Beth
At least I know how to check if the image is uploaded or just referring to an external resource. I'd love an easier way to be informed about this, potentially by hovering the image.
Unfortunately, most of my missing images do not seem to link to a missing external resource, the URL field is empty. Actually double-checking only one seems to be a web link and not an upload.
For a few of the missing images, I am 100% certain that they were screenshots taken on my Mac so definitely not links to external resources. One of these screenshots is visible on my iPhone but not on my Mac and iPad.
I've attached a screenshot of a small section of the image table, including some potentially useful fields like URL and MIME type, it seems to appear for both JPEGs and PNGs. Missing images were added recently or even a year ago.
To reiterate: for me it's not images. DOCX, XLS, CSV -> gone, gone, gone. Files that were uploaded to Capacities, not linked to external sources...

Hello, we've had a look at this.
We expect that many of the affected images come from external sources. To test this, please open your image object type in the table view. Do the images with the ! icon have a URL in the URL property?
If yes, it might be that the images have expired from that source. In this case, Capacities is no longer able to show them, or to retrieve the original version. We will add an indicator to the URL upload for the image type to warn that this could happen.
If they were images you uploaded from your own file systems, it might be that you did not have an internet connection at the time, or that there was a problem with the network at the time of uploading.
If the image object (with the title and notes) is present on both devices, but only the image itself is present on one device, then it suggests there is an issue with the image itself. If it shows on mobile, you could download it to your mobile device and then try to reupload. If it still doesn't work, it would be great if you could send an example image to [email protected] so we can test and see what errors appear.
If the image does not show on either device, and they are still not there after reboot then unfortunately the image is lost. The best way to prevent this in the future is to use the image upload option, and to ensure that there are no sync errors present in Settings > Offline & Sync.
Luca Raúl Joos any updates?
To add to my earlier report, here are some additional details that may be helpful:
Some missing images were actually references to external online sources, even though they appeared as normal images (see my previous message attachment). In other cases, I'm certain the images were pasted as screenshots a pasted from the file system. Notably, while some of these images appear in one of my apps, they are missing from the other two.
Besides the disappearing stored assets, I'm also concerned that I can't find a way to check whether an image is stored within the app or is just a reference to an online resource that could disappear at any time. Is there a way to determine if an image was uploaded or is a link? And if it's a link, can I see the original asset URL?

Thanks for reporting. We're currently investigating the issue.
100%+ of my files are gone. CSV, XLS, DOCX. All PDFs are still there, and all the images except one.
I rebooted the app from settings, as instructed, but that did not fix the issue. It manifests both on my desktop app (Mac OS 26.3.1) and on iOS (26.3.1).
Guys, this must be your TOP PRIORITY! Beth
Same here,
I've checked, and the same images are missing from both my Mac and iOS apps.
Both JPEGs and PNGs for what I can see. Some of them are quite recent and others relatively old. For what I can see, they seem uploaded, not links to external resources.
The issue is still ongoing. Please, fix it as soon as possible.
Good morning, could you please navigate to the settings and select 'Account > Reboot'? Please make sure that all your data has been synchronized beforehand.
Having the same issue on the desktop app. Random images just disappear and seem broken/unavailable.
I also have a similar issue on my Android app. In the web app, the images load with no problems, though. I tried reloading the app from the settings, but it didn't help.
Beth Could you please have a look into this?
Capacities v1.58.39; Samsung SM-F966B; Android v16; Chrome WebView v144.0.7559.132 (WebKit v537.36); Mobile (Capacitor); 2/11/2026, 9:05:42 AM; en (Europe/Paris, UTC+1)

I also have this happen and I do not use any external image links.
In my case, I haven't found any instance when the image itself is really gone; rather, the thumbnails repeatedly need to be regenerated. It's happened the last 4 times I've updated the app (web only). I have gallery views where whole screens are full of that little red error icon (upper image in my attachment), but when I click on the image or the object, or scroll down and then back up, the image does load (lower image).
