Markdown syntax italic and bold with asterisks not working in editor

Hey there,

for some reason using the Markdown syntax and therefore asterisks to format text as italic and/or bold does not work in my editor.

What I mean is the following:

  • *example* should turn into italic text
  • **another example** should turn into bold text
  • ***one more example*** should turn into bold, italic text

Am I the only one with this issue or is this widespread? Either way, it would be amazing if this could be fixed as all other Markdown syntax works!

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

Johannes

Yes, this is bothering me too. I frequently use *italic* and **bold** to format text while writing and since I'm working primarily on mobile I can't even use the ctrl + i/b workaround but always have to mark the text to format it. Asteriks aren't listed in the markdown ref table, so I guess it's not yet supported.
