Merge Objects: Existing references not redirecting to surviving object
Earlier today, I used the new Merge Objects feature to combine two objects: GERD and Acid Reflux. I chose GERD as the surviving object. The merge went smoothly, and I didn’t see any errors. It looks like the references and backlinks from Acid Reflux were kept.
However, when I click on a reference to Acid Reflux in an old note, it takes me to a page that says, “This object has been deleted,” instead of going to the GERD object. I also noticed a similar issue with an alias. The GERD object has "Heartburn" as an alias, but some older notes that refer to this alias also go to the deleted object instead of GERD.
This issue seems to affect only the old references. Any new links I create after the merge work correctly and point to GERD.
According to the recent update, “Links point at the one you keep,” so I expected the Acid Reflux references to change to point to GERD after the merge. Aliases shouldn't be affected as well since it is technically under the surviving object "GERD".
Is this how it’s supposed to work, or is there a problem with how the links are updated during the merge? If the old references don’t update automatically, I’ll need to relink them all manually.

Thanks for the detailed report. Could you add the title of one affected note and clarify whether the broken link was originally to “Acid Reflux” or to the “Heartburn” alias? This will help narrow down which references are affected.

Okay, I tried undeleting the “Acid Reflux” object and merging it into GERD again, and this time it worked. Hmm, could it have just been a temporary issue when I first merged them earlier?
I wasn’t really paying attention to the app during the first merge, so I’m not sure if an error or notification appeared at the time. But everything seems to be working fine now. Both the existing Acid Reflux references and the Heartburn alias are now correctly pointing to the surviving GERD object.
So, feel free to close this report for now. Thanks!
